‘She’s the “GODMOTHER” of them all… the baddest One-Chick Hit-Squad that ever hit town!’

In 1970s Los Angeles, nurse-cum-vigilante Flower Child “Coffy” Coffin (Pam Grier) seeks vengeance against the druglords who exploited her sister and assaulted her friend.

Jack Hill’s Coffy is considered a groundbreaking classic of the Blaxploitation genre. With a spunky female action hero at its centre, it pushes back hard against contemporary Black cinema’s tendency to ‘glorify drug pushers, and their almost total disregard for women’, and paved for the way for future female protagonists in Hollywood.
