The Whetherman is on a mission...
The Whetherman is on a mission to figure out all things Queer culture, or culturally Queer depending on your point of view. A show about feeling joy, managing fear and keeping ourselves warm in a cold, stormy world.
The Whetherman, played by Rhian Jade (Geet Northern, SoreSlap, BBC Words First) takes their audience on a journey of all the nuances of Queerness. They use comedy, music and burlesque to explore self love and aim to answer the questions we all have about things such as:
● Mating rituals - Is that person flirting or are the strobe lights in the gay bar just blinding you?
This preview comes to Alphabetti as a one off Work In Progress showing, to bring the audience into the Whetherman’s world of play, pushing boundaries and standing up for pride for all, in spite of fear and stereotypes. Using one of the best venues in the North East as a last step in the development stage of The Whetherman, after six previous scene performances across 2025 in cabaret shows, Rhian Jade invites a Queer, Allied, and most importantly, future allies who are maybe not there yet to move through the complexities of existing in the intersections of society.
