Lort Burn Specials is a new series of occasional talks and cultural nights at the Alphabetti Theatre.

featuring Yara Rodrigues Fowler, Lyndsey Ayre and Jake Trelease, with music from Lucy Valentine.

Gareth Dennis is Britain’s foremost commentator on railways. His book How Railways will Fix the Future: the Essential Brilliance of the Iron Road (Repeater, 2024) shows how railways are key to the fight for equality and a just transition. In this edition of Lort Burn Specials he will be talking to us about trains, politics, and how to build a better future by riding the rails.

With readings from locally-based novelists Yara Rodrigues Fowler (one of Granta’s Best Young British Novelists), Chaplin Award winner Lyndsey Ayre and Jake Trelease, plus music from guitarist Lucy Valentine, the second Lort Burn Specials continues our mission to Make Newcastle Counterculture Again.
