From Midday to Midnight we have Theatre, Poetry and Comedy from some of the best entertainers in Newcastle all previewing shows they're touring over the summer months. Alphabetti is also transforming the smoking terrace to an acoustic stage. We have Food, We have Drink, We have Acts - all we need is an audience!
Line up on The Main Stage:
12.30 – 13.30 Theatre from:
Camisado Club - Send More Paper
An uplifting tale about murder. Camisado Club (formerly NORTH 14) present a true, dark, fast paced story of joy, sex, murder, deceit, men, women, murder, passion and murder. Join the club before their one night stand in Edinburgh. August 21st, Northern Stage at King's Hall.
14:00 – 15:00 Stand Up Comedy from:
Raul Kohli – If I Rauled the World
Young Geordie comedian Raul analyses the world addressing some of the biggest issues of the day which he juxtaposes with his own life experiences. Described as " funny, fresh and meticulously contemporary" by Edfringereview.com and rated 4* by the Oxford Theatre Review in 2013, this is a preview performance before he takes the show up to Edinburgh Fringe, it’s a must for any current affairs lover.
15:30 – 16:30 Sketch Comedy:
Alphabetti Spaghetti Theatre - Teeth In Eggcups
A quirky, ludicrous and honestly bizarre comedy sketch show that has been described as ‘#newmontypython’ by a producer from BBC Radio 4’s Today program. The group are previewing an hour long mix from their last 3 episodes, which they're touring 14th – 20th July.
17:00 – 18:00 - Poetry from:
Jenni Pascoe - It's All About The JibbaJabba
Jenni Pascoe is a poet with a penchant for purple, performing a preview in preparation for pouncing on the PBH Free Fringe. She also likes alliteration!
18:30 – 19:30 Theatre from:
Mixtape – Festival Roadtrip
Bite-size theatre inspired by music. Part theatre show / part pop quiz. The Mixtapers take a song and, using only the words in that song, create short micro plays that can be no longer than the track that inspired it. The Mixtapers will be previewing some of the tracks they’ll be touring to music festivals this Summer.
Jonny Pelham & George Zach – Subtitles Not Provided
Jonny Pelham nominated for Chortle Best Newcomer 2014 and a finalist in the BBC New Comedy Awards 2013, and George Zach ‘really funny, great stories’ (Jack Whitehall), ‘this guy is f*cking funny, don't be fooled by the accent’ (Tony Law) each do half an hour of jokes they do for a living, in a half assed attempt to say they did at least one preview of what will be a sell-out Edinburgh show-because they purposefully picked a small venue. It will should be good. Although one has a speech impediment and the other is Greek, so good luck with that.
21:30 – 22:30 Theatrical Music from:
The Letter Room – Bonenkai Beats
Today is a day to forget everything. An unforgettable celebration of forgetting.
And it has to be a party. The Letter Room are previewing the music from their new show - Bonenkai (Northern Stage - 3rd & 4th July & Edinburgh Fringe Festival – August 2014). There'll be live music and dancing and just a small amount of debauchery.
22:30 – 24:00
DJ’s spinning a different class of music – The Good Tunes
The stuff you always want to hear in a club but never do The Good Tunes!
Out on the Terrace we have:
Martha Wheatley, The Sandboys, Awkward George, Wilf Stone and Many many more.
Plus there is:
- BBQ & Vegetarian and Vegan friendly food stalls
- AND not forgetting A BAR!
