The Sunday Assembly is an international secular community that celebrates life. We meet regularly to help people Live Better, Help Often and Wonder more. We are radically inclusive, so everyone is welcome.
Sunday Assembly Newcastle gets together (usually) the second Sunday of the month to enjoy presentations, performances and interesting. It’s relaxed, fun, free and uplifting. There's music and singing (pop songs, not hymns!), creative stuff for kids, tea, coffee and homemade cakes. The only real way to understand Sunday Assembly is to experience it for yourself, so we hope to see you and yours at Sunday Assembly!
This month's Assembly will welome a local treasure as guest speaker. One of the region's best-loved singer-songwriters and raconteurs, Nev Clay has also worked in prisons as a music workshop facilitator for The Irene Taylor Trust 'Music in Prisons' charity. Today he joins Sunday Assembly to explore the role that playing, writing and listening to music can have for those serving their time at Her Majesty's pleasure. Interspersed with songs written and recorded by inmates during sessions he facilitated in this role, Nev presents a never-before-seen view of prison life.
Plus all your usual - laughs, secular inspiration, friendship and refreshments, and great big pop and rock singalongs! The SAN Band are working hard on rehearsing - who knows, maybe we'll have live music this month! If you want to join the band, let us know. We'll still be hosting our pay-as-you-feel cafe, and donations of sweet and savoury items are welcomed, as is help on the day!
Help often is part of the Sunday Assembly motto. So we collect longlife food, hygiene items, clothing, blankets etc for local food banks and charities. If you can, please bring a donation.
