SKETCH SLAP is a night of sketches about everything fun and comedy. It is a collaborative event brought to you by Soreslap, creators of ‘More Blacks, More Dogs, More Irish’, Alphabetti 2022.
Soreslap has been working with other artists to develop a platform for all in the North East, especially for those marginalised in the Arts Industry.
SKETCH SLAP will enable new and experienced writers to submit their work to be performed by new and experienced performers! Performance artists will apply and Sore Slap will partner them up with others. In teams, they have a week to create a weird and wonderful show, with directorial, dramaturgical support and rehearsal space available should they need it.
Sketches will last between 1 and 8 minutes and will feature no more than 4 characters
Our cabaret sketch night celebrates comedy, queerness, neurodiversity, disability, ethnic and racial diversity.
We will provide access notices for our venue, as well as information presented in multiple forms and sketches will be empowering (as well as side splittingly funny).
You can expect weird, wonderful, wigs, bees, barbies and maybe even witness a Psychic at work if you're lucky! All with a few cool poems thrown in!
Really, anything can happen at SKETCH SLAP. But it will be entertaining. It will champion its artists and its audience. It will be brilliant crack!
