Alphabetti Theatre are looking for a Stage Manager to oversee their World War 1 Experience Project. This encompasses a full production of Walter by Steve Byron and the short, immersive The Trench created by Gary Kitching, in partnership with The Worriers, Alphabetti Theatre and the Discovery Museum.
The productions are aimed at ages 7+ and will be performed as part of a wider schools projects with supporting workshops either side. For more information about the whole project please click here for more information.
WALTER tells the tale of a courageous homing pigeon named Walter during World War One. It is up to Walter to carry an important message across the trenches and the battlefields, above the mud, blood and across the waters. Embarking on an “adventure to end all adventures”, Walter must face dangers at every turn, but with bravery and determination to fulfil his master’s one final wish…
The Trench is a short (15 min) sensory, immersive experience in which a First World War trench is recreated in Alphabetti Theatre’s rehearsal room. Audiences will be welcomed into the trench by a performer and will experience life in the trenches, and will have the opportunity to ask questions and interact at the end.
The Stage Manager will be required to attend Walter rehearsals (times can be flexible in agreement with the director) and to provide ongoing additional support to The Trench team. They will then be required to stage manage all performances and generally oversee the project as a whole.
