A girl, magic tricks, and a penguin – what could possibly go wrong?
Meggie Magicia – is a magical show for families and school groups. Meggie is newly moved to the seaside to live with her Gran – separated from her Dad who is working away, and her friends. Meggie is desperate to fit in, plus make her magician Dad proud. She sets about practising a magic show for the annual Lifeboat Festival the next day, with the aid of her toy penguin, but time is ticking away.
Wendy Errington is a North East playwright who, over the past four years, has had plays performed at Alphabetti Theatre, Live Theatre, Theatre Space NE, and ARC Stockton Arts Centre. Plus plays produced by Coracle Productions and Workie Ticket Theatre Company. This is Wendy’s debut family show.
This is a production in partnership with Alphabetti Theatre. It is directed by Karen Traynor, who has 20 years’ experience of theatre for young people. Most recently she was assistant director on Northern Stage’s ‘A Christmas Carol’ (2018) and 'The Snow Queen’ (2019). Local, young magician, Michael Grist, has acted as magic consultant.
