We have commisioned this fantastic artist to create a short reaction piece to our main programme show, The My Name Is Rachel Corrie.
Maryam is a mixed heritage actor and new writer based in Teesside. She recently returned to the arts after a career break as an SEN teacher and has begun to find the power in her own voice through writing for theatre. She is particularly drawn to stories that highlight personal lived experiences within wider social and political issues.
Maryam is excited to be responding to My Name is Rachel Corrie as it is a piece that resonates deeply with her, and she is proud to be working on a project that centres on activism for Palestine.
