BBC Words First is a national competition to find the brightest emerging spoken word talent in the UK. New Writing North are excited to be partnering up with BBC 1Xtra, Asian Network, and the Contains Strong Language festival to deliver the North East regional workshops throughout June.
Join us on Tuesday 11th June for our regional finalist showcase, where 14 of the UK's most promising spoken word artists aged 18–30 will take to the stage to debut their new work. With special guest Radio 1Xtra DJ Reece Parkinson, and hosted by one of the country's leading poets, Malika Booker, this promises to be an electric night of performance poetry.
