we have devised a creative workshop around participants adapting their favourite films or TV shows into theatre productions

Enda Walsh’s fantastic play Disco Pigs has famously been adapted into a film from 2001 staring Elaine Cassidy and Cillian Murphy in his first ever film role! In celebration of this, we have devised a creative workshop around participants adapting their favourite films or TV shows into theatre productions, dipping into creative writing, using liveness to find interesting solutions to staging movie magic, and looking into the difference between theatre aesthetics and film aesthetics, and how they can work with each other in exciting ways. Hopefully this workshop will use film to inspire its participants to generate creative ideas about live performance as a medium to tell a story, and allow them to consider every inch of what live theatre has to offer when it comes to telling their own story and building atmosphere.

Participants are welcome to book onto both workshops or just one! Any skill level is welcome, it’s all a bit of fun, come and create in a safe and supportive environment!

About the facilitator – Audrey Cook

Alongside being a creative arts facilitator, and Alphabetti Theatre’s community engagement coordinator, Audrey is a theatre maker and writer from Teesside. As an associate artist for ARC Stockton, their practice heavily involves pulling visuals and tropes from cult film and TV, and using it to ground the chaos and anarchic nature of live theatre.
